Work!

I am going back to work tomorrow! About a month ago I got a phone call out of the blue from one of the girls I used to work with asking if I'd be interested in four months of work 3 days a week. I think she expected me to say no because George is still so young but my first answer was yes, and after talking about it with mum and dad and Jason, definitely yes. I've been waiting to talk about it until I knew it was definitely happening, because I didn't want to jinx it.

At a time when 1 in 4 geologists are out of work, I did not expect to be able to get a job, let alone a part-time job, with so little effort. I will be working all the weekdays Jason is home: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday one week, Monday the following week, and then my dad is taking Thursdays and Fridays off while Jason is at work. I have enrolled Olivia in the daycare around the corner on Thursdays and Fridays, partly because I know she is going to really enjoy it (she has been asking if she can go there for months), partly because I can now get half the cost back from the government because I'm working, and partly to make it a bit easier for Jason and my Dad while I'm at work. Jason will still have both kids on Wednesdays and Mondays, but he can handle it, I'm sure. I think it will be good bonding time for Jason (and my dad), so I'm not too worried about being away from George so early. I think it's easier to leave young babies, when I started working last time, Olivia was 9 months old and she wasn't exactly happy about it.

It's basically the same job I had before, except the mine has been bought by another company. They have even sub-leased one of the floors that Newmont used to have, so I will be in the same office as before! My contract is for 6 months, then we'll see what happens.
