Red lipstick just makes your lips look red

My step-daughter and her boyfriend came over for dinner yesterday and she was telling us about how her 15 year old sister posted a photo on New Years Eve of her and her mum. She was wearing red lipstick, which she'd put on because she was performing with a choir that night. One of their cousins posted the photo of her with make-up on, with an older one from he year before sans make-up on facebook along with a rant about how kids were so much sluttier these days.

This made me angry for many reasons.
1. She can wear whatever the fuck coloured makeup she likes. It has nothing to do with her sexuality.
2. Not that it's anybody else's fucking business who she sleeps with or doesn't.
3. She's 15 and had one boyfriend for 2 weeks, where the fuck does sluttiness even come into it anyway?
4. The word slut should be shunted from the english language forever. It is a word used by people applying their perverted ideas onto someone else with no regard for reality. Half the time said slut hasn't even had a sexual encounter yet! A friend of mine often refers to women dressing slutty in a derogatory way but what she's really saying is how dare they make themselves look pretty for any reason. I haven't pulled her up on it yet because it's hard to articulate how I feel about her saying it and I know it will make her feel bad and I don't want to make my friends feel bad. But I will do it one day soon.

The cousin that posted the nasty rant unfriended my step-daughter, her sister and their mum on facebook as soon as she posted it and only they found out about it because their grandmother took little sister shopping for new make-up and laughingly told her on the way about the photos on facebook and that they would get her some more appropriately coloured lipstick.

Small things like this show feminism has such a long way to go.

Speaking of feminism, I have been enjoying this lady's writing and facebook posts lately. Also this.

My ex-brother-in-law once referred to the way my daughter dressed as being slutty. At the time she was 18 and had 34DD's. She was wearing jeans a T-shirt with a Chinese symbol on it for Peace. Nothing low cut or revealing. I looked at him and asked him if he was telling us we needed to have her boobs removed. Of course he started back paddling, fucking pervert. So glad he's an EX.

The relative that posted that on FB needs to look down at their own hand when they are "pointing fingers" at someone... just how many fingers are pointing back at them when they are pointing at someone else?

Argh, what a tool that cousin is! Derogatory use of the word 'slut' should go to hell forever.

Also, that Caitlyn Johnstone tumblr seems to have lots of Steven Universe stuff - you guys should totally watch it!
